Know Your Opponent: FC Baltimore | 6.16.19

June 12, 2019

NORFOLK, Va. (June 12, 2019) — It's a pivotal weekend for Virginia Beach City FC, as the club plays two NPSL matches in three days. The second of those will be at home vs. last year's conference champions, FC Baltimore.

A Much-Needed Return Home

Playing two matches in three days isn't easy, but it's better when you can play one of those matches at home.

Virginia Beach City FC played FC Baltimore to a draw in the first leg of this series, finishing the match 1-1 on the road to start the season on May 11. It was the NPSL's introduction to VB City FC star forward Ezana Kahsay, who scored VB City FC's only goal. Kahsay leads VB City FC with four goals.

Now or Never

FC Baltimore is up against a wall. They are six points behind VB City FC in the NPSL Mid-Atlantic conference standings, and this match would go a long way in vaulting them into contention. FC Baltimore has several matches remaining, but they will also be playing their second match in three days.

Key Matchup

VB City FC's forwards vs. FC Baltimore's backline — Virginia Beach City FC's frontline depth has been well covered, but that depth will really come into play over this weekend. VB City FC has a tough road match vs. Charlottesville Alliance FC on Friday and it will be a short turnaround for Sunday's match. VB City FC's slightly less-heralded forwards, namely AJ Wadda, Trevor Knight and Tye Stallins, will need to take advantage of the opportunity on Sunday.

Sunday's match is the second-to-last regular season home match for Virginia Beach City FC. Be sure to get your tickets to see the best team in the NPSL Mid-Atlantic Conference.
