May 13, 2017

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (May 13, 2017) – Virginia Beach City FC men open their NPSL season on the road tonight at fellow Mid-Atlantic conference opponent, Legacy 76.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET at Wanner Stadium in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The Mid-Atlantic conference will play a total of eight total games, including six group stage regular season games and two playoff games. The first six games will include one home and one away game for all teams. Game 7 will be determined by seeding (#1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3). Game 8 will feature the two winners from Game 7 and the two losers from Game 7.

The winner from the Mid-Atlantic Conference championship match will advance to the NPSL Northeast Region semifinal as part of the league’s national playoffs.

VB City FC is beginning their fourth season in operation as a club. Brian Hinkey returns for his fourth season as Head Coach.

Coming off a 2016 season that saw them finish second in the Mid-Atlantic conference, Owner Steven Wagoner anticipates a side that contends for a conference championship, which earns them a berth into the NPSL Northeast Region playoffs as part of the league’s national playoffs.

Tonight’s opponent, Legacy 76, is coming off a crushing 2-1-road defeat that saw them concede the game-winner in the 57th minute to the Carolina Dynamo in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Wednesday in Greensboro, N.C.

Tonight’s match also serves as Legacy’s NPSL home opener.
