NORFOLK, VA. (June 6, 2021) — Virginia Beach City FC capped the second match of their road trip on Sunday, falling to Philadelphia Lone Star 2-1.
VB City FC came out aggressive early, scoring their fastest goal of the season. Newcomer Sherreiff scored in the ninth minute, thanks to an assist from David Ndukaku Osuji.
Philadelphia Lone Star, who played VB City FC to a draw in the season-opener and won the next iteration between the two teams, finished the first half strong with a goal in the 41st minute from Mamadou Diarra. Philly struck again shortly after the intermission, scoring again in the 49th minute on a Forster Ajago goal.
Sunday was the fourth defeat for Virginia Beach City FC this season, dropping the club’s season record to 1-1-4. There is still time to turn things around — Virginia Beach City FC will play four more matches this season, two of which are at home.
