Know Your Opponent: FC Frederick | 6/23 | VB City FC

June 20, 2018

VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA. (June 19, 2018) — Virginia Beach City FC is hoping to climb the Mid-Atlantic Conference standings on Saturday as VB City FC takes on FC Frederick for the second time this season. Saturday’s match is slated for 7 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. You can buy tickets to Saturday’s match here.

FC Frederick hoping to turnaround season

Since drawing with Virginia Beach City FC on May 27, FC Frederick has struggled. FC Frederick knocked off Legacy 76 on June 9 but has lost their last two matches. FC Frederick lost 1-0 vs. Northern Virginia United on June 12 and 2-0 vs. FC Baltimore on June 16. Frederick is fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Division standings and is five points out of first place.

Virginia Beach City FC entering the stretch run

With just three Mid-Atlantic Division teams making the playoffs, Virginia Beach City FC needs to finish the regular season strong. VB City FC sits in third with eight points and is just one point above FC Baltimore and FC Frederick.

Virginia Beach City FC has four matches remaining, two of which are against Northern Virginia United, the division leader. Fortunately for VB City FC, the Boys will end their regular season at home vs. Legacy 76, who has a division-worst minus-18 goal differential.

Key Matchup

VB City FC’s forwards vs. FC Frederick’s back line — Virginia Beach City FC has scored just three goals in their last three matches and the stretch run would be a perfect time for the offense to come alive. If guys like Sebastian Refi and Trevor Knight are able to get on the board on Saturday, it would go a long way in pushing Virginia Beach City FC to a much-needed win.
