Charlottesville Alliance FC Ends Virginia Beach City FC's Point Streak With 2-1 Victory
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA (June 17, 2018) –Virginia Beach City FC’s point streak ended on Saturday night as the boys fell to Charlottesville Alliance FC 2-1. Charlottesville seized the lead in the first half and held on late to secure the win.
Chris Cooke scored Virginia Beach City FC’s only goal on an assist from Jordi Davis in the 56th minute, his first goal of the season. Unfortunately, VB City FC couldn’t score the equalizer as the second half wore on, even with a free kick just outside the box in stoppage time.
“It’s great to be able to defend your home ground,” said Charlottesville Alliance FC head coach Samuel Avery. “Credit to the guys for being able to perform at home and taking care of business.”
The loss drops VB City FC to third in the Mid-Atlantic Division with eight points. Charlottesville Alliance FC is now in second behind Northern Virginia United, at nine and 12 points respectively. Virginia Beach City FC has four matches left on the schedule and returns to the Virginia Beach Sportsplex to take on FC Frederick on June 23.
