D.C. United Name Brian Hinkey Head Scout of Hampton Roads Metro | D.C. United
VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA (April 26, 2018) – Virginia Beach City FC and D.C. United have named Brian Hinkey as the Head Scout of the Hampton Roads, VA metropolitan region, the clubs announced today.
“We couldn’t be more excited to add Brian to the scouting team, with his background, knowledge and passion he will be a tremendous asset in a very talented area,” said D.C. United Academy Director Ryan Martin. “Brian will lead our efforts in the Hampton Roads area and give a professional pathway to not only the VB City FC players but the entire Hampton Roads community. I look forward to a long relationship"
Brian Hinkey is the Head Coach and Vice President of Soccer Operations at Virginia Beach City FC. He has been tasked to oversee and manage the D.C. United Talent Center programming in Hampton Roads which is a platform to provide players with development and identification opportunities with D.C. United.

United Academy Director) and his team to help identify top talent that can be exposed into the D.C. United Academy and ultimately their First Team. It’s a win-win for players in Hampton Roads looking for opportunities at the highest levels in the United States and also for D.C. United to expand their reach into new markets”
Under Brian Hinkey’s management, Virginia Beach City FC went undefeated during the 2017 regular season. His squad earned a US Open Cup berth in 2014 and advanced to the second round, matching up with US Soccer’s current second division side, Richmond Kickers of USL.
Most recently within the Virginia Beach City FC Academy, the 03 Boys, managed by Coach Hinkey, advanced to the semi finals of the Virginia Youth Soccer Association State Cup, 2017. Brian Hinkey has developed players over a 16 year period at multiple stages of the US Soccer pyramid including youth, amateur and professional.
Virginia Beach City FC has had two players selected in the MLS SuperDraft which positively reflects on the quality of the club’s program and Hinkey’s ability to develop and identify players to advance to the highest levels of the game in the United States.
