VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. (June 12, 2018) — With the division lead in their hands, Virginia Beach City FC will hit the road once again this Saturday as the boys take on Charlottesville Alliance FC on June 16. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m. at Charlottesville High School Stadium.

Two teams hitting their stride

Charlottesville Alliance FC enters Saturday’s match on a hot streak, winners of their last two matches. Charlottesville knocked off FC Baltimore on June 3 and defeated Northern Virginia United on June 9. Their last loss came on June 1, when they lost 2-0 to Virginia Beach City FC.

VB City FC is also on a point streak. Since the loss to FC Baltimore on May 19, VB City FC has won at least a point in each of their last three matches. VB City FC’s recent success has placed them at the top of the Mid-Atlantic Division with eight points, while Charlottesville has six points.

Refi strikes again vs. FC Baltimore

After scoring two goals vs. Legacy 76 to start the season, VBC forward Sebastian Refi got back on the board with FC Baltimore. Refi now has three goals this season and along with Trevor Knight, the two have given VB City FC a consistent offensive attack.

Key matchup

VB City’s midfielders and forwards vs. Charlottesville’s back line — As consistent as VB City FC’s attack has been this season, there are plenty of opportunities that have been left on the table this season. VB City FC needs to continue to hold possession in the midfield and when the offensive opportunities present themselves, VB City FC needs to finish them.
